13 Tips To Relish Your Motherhood (Especially for the First Time Moms)

December 12, 2015 by Anjana Jins Leave a Comment

Are you a new mom juggling to set things right?

Why do we see motherhood as a terror phase?

Why do we term it as the end of all freedom and friendship?

Why do we call it the era of vaccinations and tantrums?

motherhood

The baby was coming but in all that excitement and anxiety, there were a trillion questions which kept orbiting my heart and soul. I couldn’t even blurt out to clarify just for the reason of embarrassment.

And with the mounting contradicting tips, guidelines, new mom survival guide and instructions from all over the world, it was dyed in the wool that my life was going to change forever, never to return the joys of spinsterhood.

At that juncture I decided to pick up the oars and become the master of my fate. This post is especially written for the entire super – heroines who are planning to enter, entering or already entered the biosphere of motherhood.

13 Tips to enjoy motherhood:

Here are 13 new mommy tips to pep-up and groom your new role to make it electrifying, exhilarating and captivating.

#1. Respect your body

Come delivery and most of us get naturally blessed with oodles of fats and flabs, which grow annoying, and more, when people come up with compliments (read remarks).

Ladies, ignore their comments. Learn to love and respect your body, whatsoever, the size and shape. Believe me, with time and proper care the extra pounds vanish. All you need to do is – be happy and stay healthy. You have your little bundle of joy to look after.

#2. Go for a hair-cut / a new hair-do

A new-look instills life. A tress to impress your face and of course, everyone around. Exhibit that motherhood indeed has added glory and charm. What better than getting a perfect haircut done!!!

And for all the ladies who fear to cut their lovely locks, C’mon times to get brave hearted and accept the change.

A hair-cut doesn’t necessarily mean you got to alter the length, however you can always get the bouncy look, wavy look, layered look in forms of hair cut OR straightened/permed/curly/rebonded hair as in hair-do. Choose what makes you feel comfortable and cuts your time short for hair management.

#3. Become a writer

The little moments of joy will be many. Maintain a journal and jot them down.

You don’t need to be great with words and write essays. Just a few key words for you to look back and feel the emotional touch when your little one outgrows.

All their firsts, their funny reactions, milestones, the memorable days and dates can be flipped and read when our memories begin to fade out and we have lesser stories to narrate.

#4. Eat good food

Yes, we are pampered to the core. This is the best time to relish all the delicacies your mouth salivates for.

Try out new cuisines and indulge in good food to revive your drooping spirits. I staunchly believe, the way to everyone’s heart is through his or her stomach.  Name me one person who doesn’t (hehehe).

Not to forget, eat healthy because eating more is not much important than eating right!

#5. Explore to discover

Baby darling came out with nothing as such manuals or guidelines but only placenta, amniotic water and blood.

Everyday will be a day of Eureka!

We mothers, knowingly – unknowingly, are like explorers who are hell bent upon finding out new things for our little ones. Play it like a game and enjoy the fun of discovering stuff and sharing them with others. Don’t we all know learning is an endless journey?

#6. It is okay to be messy

Stop worrying about the mess and look who is writing this up, the one who is extremely obsessive about it. And for the ones who know me for this, I have changed for good and I am no more “The Monica” (of F.R.I.E.N.D.S ‘ fame).

I have learnt that happy, smart and active kids are found in homes where mess is less taken care of.

Motor skills develop faster when we give the liberty to let the kids be kids. Allow them to tour their world of curiosity with things around and stop stressing yourself of cleaning and disinfecting every little thing.

#7. Express your emotions

Motherhood doesn’t snatch away your right to expression. Talk it out if you have any emotional outbursts; share your thoughts and feelings. If you need help, ask for it. Come out of your cocoon and take the freedom to speak out.

You are not the only one who is going through traumas; there are many who go through post – partum syndromes and depressions. Sharing and expressing lightens us and makes us relaxed.

#8. Sleep when the baby sleeps

Are you sleep deprived these days?

Just sleep when your little one is sleeping. That way you don’t have those scary 50 shades of dark circles on your face and the post-delivery glow stays on.

Why should we girls play with our beauty regimes when the only care it involves is co-sleeping? Should we not adhere to it?

#9. Take pictures / videos

With the usher of high definition cameras and selfies, can we ever resist ourselves from taking pictures and videos? Capture those amazing moments and share them with friends and family.

Show how motherhood brings colors to your life and boosts your photography skills 😉

And don’t forget to frame the beautiful moments captured. Try this DIY photo frame.

#10. Connect yourself with mommy friends

Make friends with the mommies around you. Connect, share and have get-together with them. Chit-chats, games over tea and snacks are magical.

You will not miss your college days for sure since gossips keep us alive and kicking.

#11. Change your wardrobe

For all the Shopaholics like me, this is the best excuse to get new clothes and change your wardrobe.

The ones who are too lazy to get out or even change their set of clothes, time to buckle up and trigger yourself to look your best. Order online stuff and show the maternity styles.

#12. Revive your interests

Are any of your interests hibernating? The end has come and your interests need awakening. They can also be your long forgotten school hobbies.

Never let them leave your heart. Rejuvenate them for good and let your baby know your interests, your likes and your fascinations. Even if it means reading out fairy-tales, sketching, knitting, quilling, writing etc

#13. Stop Comparing

Most of the time you may feel that you suck being a mother and is not even near to being a good one. This one feeling comes when you see how easily your friend is handling her baby, house and work and you can’t handle yours.

The moment you start comparing yourself with other moms, things start to fall out of your control.

Each baby is different and so is the mother.

You have your own ways to raise your kids and your way is the best for your baby and family.  So stop comparing and be happy with what you are.

Motherhood is amazing and polishes you inside out. Never let this crowning glory dampen your spirits from enjoying life. This is what makes us beautiful, let us accept with smiles. Good luck..

Hope these tips for new moms helps not just new mommies but also to-be moms. What tips and tricks do you follow to ease your phase as a mom?
