Anyone out there interested in an easy way to fabulous skin?
Have you forgotten the last time you had a cleanup because you were too pressed for time?
Are you just too lazy to try some beauty treatments at home?
Whatever maybe the case, I have for you, a quick DIY – a homemade facial scrub.
What’s special about it? Well, all it takes is two ingredients and a minute and the result is fabulous, glowing skin… You think it is too good to be true? Then read along.
Let me tell you a bit about my skin. I have super oily acne prone sensitive skin. I cannot even use bleach. That’s how sensitive my skin is. So I really don’t experiment much. Plus, I am super lazy, so that doesn’t help either.
An occasional clean up and getting my eyebrows into shape is the only beauty treatment I do. And that too happens only when my eyebrows start to resemble Krur Singh’s eyebrows (Chandrakanta fame) 😛
It was my daughter Sara’s birthday and I really wanted to get a clean-up or maybe a facial done because my skin was dull and lifeless. Unfortunately Sara wasn’t well and I couldn’t leave her and go. So I decided to do something at home.
It was something I read way back but was too lazy to try it out. But since it needs just 2 ingredients and takes a minute, I wondered what the harm in trying was.
Benefits of homemade facial scrub with curd and baking soda:
The 2 simple ingredients are curd and baking powder. The benefits of the ingredients are as follows.
- Curd:
Curd is rich in lactic acid, a naturally occurring Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It helps in evening out your complexion and also makes it soft and smooth.
Curd helps in removing tan. Because of the presence of lactic acid, it makes your skin brighter and more radiant.
AHAs are known to help fight ageing, so curd is a naturally occurring anti-ageing remedy.
Being a natural exfoliator, curd along with baking soda, will remove black and white heads too. Hence this is a good and effective exfoliating scrub.
Curd is also natural bleach. Oh, and did I mention it works on pimples too, by drying out them faster.
- Baking soda:
Like curd, baking soda helps with your pimples, by drying them faster. It prevents clogging of your pores.
Baking soda exfoliates that removes dead skin cells to reveal a more glowing one. It helps in removing those pesky black heads and tan. It can make your complexion brighter too.
How to make homemade facial scrub?
Like I said, it is really easy. Let us look at how to make a face scrub that is easy and gives results instantaneously.
Mix baking soda and curd together to form a paste. Apply on face and wash it after a minute scrubbing gently.
Your skin will turn pinkish for a while. It will regain its normal texture and color within minutes. Apply moisturizer or calamine lotion.
[yumprint-recipe id=’2′]Note:
- The first time, don’t keep it for more than a minute and the next time you can increase it for 2-3 minutes but never more than 4 minutes. Please be careful with the ratio, as this is very potent
- Avoid the under eye area
This scrub is the best facial scrub hands down.
Now there are many homemade facial scrubs for blackheads and whiteheads, but this is my favorite. As this has been the only time people noticed and asked me what I did to my skin because it was glowing. It dries out white heads and helps with black heads. It also removed my tan, my skin was softer, smoother and glowing.
This homemade facial scrub is considered as a cheaper alternative of microderma abrasion.
Make sure you try this out and see the difference but please be advised not more than once a week and follow the ratio. Let me know how many compliments you get. Not that we keep track( smiling modestly).
Is there any other quick homemade facial scrub you use? Share with me the secret recipe please.
The ratio is not mentioned in the blog. Can you please share the same, as I see only [yumprint-recipe id=’2′]
