10 Effortless Ways for a Healthy Lifestyle

July 24, 2015 by Saumya Ajaykumar 3 Comments

Excerpts from a mom’s diary:

“Being a mother has been a great journey so far. However post delivery I have started to look and feel older.

My skin has lost its glow. My hair has lost its luster. I feel tired all the time. I have been trying to get back to shape. But with a kid around and my busy routine, it’s kind of difficult to make time.

I tried to hit the gym, walking, control eating habits, but gave up on them.

I need to get healthy. What do I do to be healthy?“

Why did I begin this article with an excerpt from a mom’s diary?

Because I am sure many of you can relate to this.

This was precisely how I used to feel before I made a few changes to my lifestyle.

10 Simple tips for healthy living:

Believe me, it is pretty much easy to lead a healthy lifestyle if you too stick to these 10 golden tips in your life.

#1.Water – Stay hydrated

We are busy all through the day that often the minimum water requirement of our body is not met. We end up feeling tired and dehydrated.

But, how to ensure that we drink 2 to 3 liters of water a day?

I have a very health conscious friend in office and I like what she does. She keeps three 1-litre bottles of water on her desk everyday and ensures that she completes that during the day. It kind of looks funny with bottles on her desk but it definitely works.

So tip number one is stay hydrated. Fill up 3 bottles of water and keep it aside only for you. Ensure you finish up the bottles in the daytime.

#2. Exercise

Not all of us can make time to go for a walk or hit the gym. The cheat way to ensure exercise is walking up to the bus stop or to the grocery shop or parking your vehicle a little further from the shops when you go out for shopping.

Take the stairs always irrespective of whether you are running late or not.

#3. Drink lukewarm water every morning

Drink a glass of lukewarm water with lime and honey first thing in the morning.

If you find it difficult to squeeze lime and mix honey, at least have lukewarm water. Even lukewarm water can cleanse your body if you take it as the first thing in your day. The idea is to avoid tea or coffee at the start of the day.

#4. Pack a fruit

A fruit a day is the best way to stay healthy. Seasonal fruits are the best.

Your handbag should always have a fresh fruit. When you feel to snack, take a bite of your favorite fruit.

Also carry a pack of dry fruits in your bag. Dry fruits are known for their health benefits and are a quick way to curb your hunger. So next time when you have the urge to much on something, go for fruits instead of packet chips or fast foods.

#5. Never skip breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Remember the old saying-  “Eat a heavy breakfast like a King.”

You ought to start your day energetically and having a good healthy breakfast is the best way to ensure this.

However late you are to work or to drop the kids to the school, ensure you find sometime to eat a proper of healthy breakfast.

#6. Have a light dinner

Dinner should be the lightest meal of the day. Early dinner eases out digestion.

Again, don’t skip dinner for any reason.

Focus on a balanced diet. When you enjoy what you eat, it automatically makes you happy and healthy.

#7. Choose healthy evening snacks

The evening snacks are the culprit in most cases for unhealthy lifestyle. We tend to have a light breakfast or lunch or skip food and then end up eating junk in the evening. Evening snacks should be healthy.

You could either have roasted kurmura, khakras, dhoklas, a fruit or some nuts as your evening snacks. Even a brown bread sandwich is a quick grab.

#8. Sleep discipline

Ensure that you get a good sleep. If you get into bed late and are up early, you might end up waking up tired and will have a tiresome day.

Take an effort to say bye-bye to late night TV shows, parties etc. and gradually get into the practice to go to bed earlier and slowly you will find yourself sleeping on time.

#9. Replace tea or coffee with green tea

Gradually replace your tea or coffee with green tea. Health benefits of green tea are immense and this will definitely make you feel better and healthier.

#10. Deal with your sweet tooth

If you have sweet tooth and can’t resist sweets, curb them with dark chocolates. Dark chocolates act as an anti oxidant and are known for its health boosting properties. You could even choose to have an anjeer (fig) or dates to satisfy your sweet tooth.

These are my 10 simple ways to live healthy. Hope this helps you to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
