blackheads on nose

Most of us have been troubled by blackheads. Yes – those icky black things that take away the charm of your beautiful nose.

I have had my run in with these notorious things and have ended up with a lot of scars. In my infinite wisdom, I thought popping these would work.

Needless to say that didn’t work. They kept coming back and I kept getting more scars. Then one day, I realized that I had to do something about this.

I am sure that I won’t be the only one with this tale. If you are also troubled by blackheads, then the remedies listed in today’s post should help you out.

What are blackheads?

If you think blackheads are dirt- you are wrong!

Blackheads are the result of our pores getting clogged. Pores gets clogged with sebum and dead skin cells. Sebum is the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands.

Don’t think that this oil is bad as this oil is necessary to keep the skin moisturized. If the glands secrete less of this then our skin becomes dry.

When the pore is open, the oil and dry skin in the pores come into contact with air and oxidizes. This makes it go black, hence the name blackheads. In the case of whiteheads, the pore isn’t open and it doesn’t oxidize.

You know what causes blackheads on nose? You know the notorious T zone? This area has the highest amount of oil glands.

The nose happens to be a part of this zone and that explains the amount of blackheads.

Things we do that make blackheads worse:

The misconception that blackheads are caused by dirt is a major factor why people use the wrong methods to clear it.

The first thing everybody does when they see the first sign of a blackhead is to pop it.

By doing that you will only end up causing more damage. Apart from popping a blackhead, there are other things that can make blackheads worse.

  • Excessive scrubbing:

You may feel that scrubbing the nose two-three times a day with face scrubs will help dislodge the debris stuck in the pores.

If you notice, the commercial scrubs available have beads in it of varying sizes. The one that are suitable for daily use will have finer beads.

Excessive scrubbing with the wrong kind of scrub and in a higher frequency will cause your skin to dry. This will in turn cause your sebaceous glands to produce more oil.

  • Try to use an extractor without using steam:

Trying to use an extractor without using steam is also bad.

When you use steam, the pores expand making it easy for you to clear out the pore. Otherwise you will also damage the skin around the pore.

30 Easy ways to remove blackheads on nose:

You now know how not to get rid of blackheads. But I am sure, you don’t want to leave it there either. Leaving it be can also pose problems.
