Vitamin E is actually a group of fat soluble vitamins of which alpha tocopherol is what is used in supplements.
Vitamin E oil is available in the oil or in capsule form. The pure form of the oil is extremely greasy and the odour is not very pleasant, hence it is often mixed with other oils and other anti-oxidants so that it can be applied on the skin and hair.
The capsules can be broken and the oil can be applied on the face or hair.

Let us now look at a few tried and tested recipes for fabulous hair and skin. Not one, not two but ten different ways that you can use vitamin E oil to look good without spending a bomb at the salon. (That is, if you have the time to go there.)
#1. Overnight hair mask
This is a very easy treatment that can be tried by everybody at home. It doesn’t involve any fancy ingredients and won’t take too much of our time. Here the coconut oil and vitamin E will work its magic on your hair as you sleep. It is ideal for extremely dry and frizzy hair.
- Coconut oil
- Vitamin E oil
Take the coconut oil and vitamin E oil in the ratio 4:1. Mix well so that both the oils blend well.
Next, take as much oil as you require. Apply it on the scalp and hair. Massage it in gently. Wear a shower cap to protect the pillow case from the oil. Wash in the morning with a mild shampoo.

Note: Warm the oil gently before applying for getting the maximum benefit of this pack.
If you can’t leave the oil overnight, you can leave it on for an hour before washing it off.

#2. Red sandalwood & Vitamin E face pack

- Red sandalwood stick or powder
- Vitamin E capsule
- Rose water
If you have red sandal wood stick, then grind enough to make a paste for your face and neck. If you have powder then take enough that is required for your face and neck.
Make a smooth paste with rose water. Break the capsule and add the oil to the sandalwood paste. Wash your face and neck, pat dry. Now you can apply the paste on your face and neck. Wait till it dries and wash it off.
Note: You can try this thrice a week to see a reduction in blemishes and pigmentation.
#3. Banana honey & vitamin E face pack
This sounds yummy right? Well, your skin will lap it up too. This trio will give you moisturized, refreshed skin. This one is a must try for those who need something effective for their dull, dry face.
- One ripe banana
- One tablespoon of honey
- One Vitamin E capsule
Mash the banana well. Add the honey to the banana and blend it. Break the capsule and add the oil to the mash and blend again into a smooth paste.
Wash and dry the face and neck. Apply this paste evenly and leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash with water, pat dry and say hello to beautiful skin.

#4. Honey and vitamin E face pack
Think of it like a mini-me version of the pack mentioned above. It may be one ingredient less, but this face pack does pack quite a punch. Regular usage will give you glowing skin with an even complexion.
- Two tablespoons honey
- One vitamin E capsule
- Tissue paper (it has to be thin)
Take the honey in a small bowl. Break the capsule into the honey. Now mix it well, so it blends thoroughly. Wash your face with some warm water. This will help to open up the pores and this mixture will be able to penetrate better.
Apply an even layer on the face, avoiding the eyes. Place a layer of tissue. Apply another layer of the honey-vitamin E mixture on the tissue. Continue till you finish the mixture.
Leave it on for 20 minutes. Carefully remove the tissue paper. If it is stuck, moisten it with some water and peel it off. Wash and pat dry.
#5. Turmeric, cucumber and vitamin E oil face pack.
Turmeric is sought after for its ability to lighten the skin. This face pack is a good way to reverse sun tan. The three ingredients work in tandem to give your lighter, even toned skin. A must try pack after every beach vacation.
- Quarter teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Cucumber juice
- One vitamin E capsule
Take the turmeric powder in a small bowl. Now add enough cucumber juice to make a smooth paste. Add the vitamin E capsule and blend well.
Apply this on your face after washing and drying it. Leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash and pat dry.
Note: If you have severely tanned skin, you can add some lemon juice too. But keep in mind that lemon juice can sting and people with sensitive skin should exercise caution while using it.
This pack contains turmeric, so you may have a faint yellow tinge after washing it off. Don’t worry it is normal, you can use it at night. So that the colour fades off after the morning wash.
#6. Coconut milk, vitamin E and banana anti-ageing mask
Coconut milk is something that we use to make our curries tasty. It is also good to keep the skin supple and combats age related skin problems. When you combine it with vitamin E, you get an anti-ageing elixir.
- Coconut milk
- Half a ripe banana
- Vitamin E capsule
Mash the banana. Add the coconut milk and the oil from the capsule. Blend it into a fine paste without any lumps.
Wash the face with some warm water. Apply the face pack and relax for 20 minutes while the ingredients work their magic. Wash it off and pat dry.
#7. Coconut oil, vitamin E ultra-hydrating lip balm
Winter is coming! Don’t make winters a dreadful ordeal for your lips. You can do so by using a nice hydrating lip balm. It is really easy to make and will keep your lips protected. Not just that, it will make it soft and supple too.
- A tablespoon of coconut oil
- Quarter tablespoon of vitamin E oil
Mix these two oils well. Now, if you stay in a cold place, then you will have to heat the oil. You can either do that on a double-boiler or you can heat it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Once you have mixed the oil, transfer it into a clean container with a lid. Leave it in the fridge. Apply it before bedtime and as many times as you want in the morning.
You can make the lip-balm tinted by adding some lipstick or safe colour, but I chose to go the natural way.
#8. Vitamin E, olive oil under-eye night oil
Dark circles, tired eyes – whatever your concern might be, this oil will help to clear all those concerns.
- Vitamin E capsule
- Olive oil
Take some olive oil and the oil from one capsule. Apply it under your eyes and leave it overnight.
#9. Vitamin E, aloe vera, oil mask for dandruff
If you have dandruff, then you have to try this mask out. It will help to clear the dandruff and also condition the hair
- Two Vitamin E capsules
- Olive oil/coconut oil
- A teaspoon of neem powder
- Aloe vera gel
- Juice of a lemon
Take the neem powder in a clean container. Add the aloe vera gel. If you get fresh aloe vera gel, then nothing like it. Add the lemon juice and blend well. Add some oil and the oil from the capsules and mix to get a nice consistency.
Apply on the scalp and hair. Wrap it with a hot towel and leave it on for a hour. Wash it off with shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would do. Try this twice-thrice a week, depending on the severity of dandruff.
